Do I have to go to the police academy if I have an associates degree of applied science in criminal justice?

Yes. When you graduate with an associates degree of applied science in criminal justice, you do not have a sufficient background in law enforcement to work as a police officer. To work as a police officer, you must have completed at least two years of formal training at an academy. Most agencies will accept applicants who hold either an associates degree or bachelor's degree from accredited universities in criminal justice or criminology.
