What is the difference between basic sciences and clinical sciences?

Basic sciences are the foundation of knowledge for all of medicine. They include disciplines such as anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, and pharmacology. Clinical sciences are the application of this knowledge to patient care. They include disciplines such as internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, and obstetrics/gynecology.
